On Tuesday night we made the hour drive down to the beautiful Ayrshire coastal town of West Kilbride and to stunning venue of Seamill Hydro.
We have entertained there a good few times but never at the newly opened Firth Pavilion which is the jewel in the crown of this newly refurbished venue.
Upon arrival we were met by Johnny who kindly showed us the venue and through the entrance at the back to the stage. He also said that we could plug directly into their house system. Usually we are dubious to do this as a lot of in house sound systems have been pushed to their limits and don’t sound great but wow!!!!….Seamill Hydro have installed a top of the range system that sounds amazing!!!
We met Deja and Johnny who were just the nicest couple you could meet! Deja hails from Southern California and Johnny is a local lad. She had obviously requested the SOCAL weather as it was so hot and sunny all day long.
The first dance happened at 8pm and was to Sleeping at last’s version of the Proclaimers “500 miles” and then we had Dean Martin “Sway”.
Deja danced with the best Eric Clapton lookalike Mike to “Change the World” and Johnny danced with his mum to Robbie Williams “Angels”.
We put on some requests and in particular for Leo who is 7 and Niamh who is 10…the best dancers there the whole night!
Since they were so good we did and dance off to Run DMC “It’s like that” which went down a storm! Such cool kids and the star of the night next to Johnny and Deja!
The whole night was just awesome and hats off to Deja who was on the floor the whole night!
Special credit to Deja’s family who made the from the USA…Las Vegas to Glasvegas (almost).
You know you’ve done good when the brides mother Shirley says to you
“Thank you for making my daughters dreams come true”. That got us and made us realise how important and valuable our responsibility is.
We saw a great quote in a book which sums up our job and importance at a wedding:
“People will forget what you say, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”
It was truly an honour to be the wedding entertainment and wish the new Mr & Mrs Lusk all the very best for the future!!
